YA Paranormal Authors
Stephenie Meyer
While not the most prolific YA Paranormal author, Meyers tops the list because it was her 4-book series, The Twilight Saga, that began the craze and encouraged more people to read the genre. Meyer claims to have come up with the story for Twilight in a vivid dream one night that she had to simply write down as soon as she was able to the next day. Her books swept the top four slots on the USA Today bestselling book list for both 2008 and 2009.
Meyer is a devout Mormon who graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English Literature. She lives in Arizona with her husband and sons.

Notable Paranormal Works: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn
Trivia: Meyer was planning to release a retelling of Twilight from Edward's point of view called Midnight Sun, but when a trusted reader of the drafts released one of the drafts to others to read, Meyer became frustrated and published her most recent draft on her website as a PDF and then gave up on the entire project.

Rachel Hawkins
Rachel Hawkins was born in Virginia and raised in Alabama. This means she uses words like "y'all" and "fixin'" a lot, and considers anything under 60 degrees to be borderline Arctic. Before deciding to write books about kissing and fire (and sometimes kissing while on fire), Rachel taught high school English for 3 years, and is still capable of teaching you The Canterbury Tales if you're into that kind of thing.
She is married to a geologist, which means that they have incredibly strange dinner conversations ("So today at work, I wrote a chapter where killer fog, like, ATE PEOPLE." "Huh. Well, I was chased by an angry reindeer while trying to map parts of Norway." "Um...okay.")
Rachel also has a little boy whose main hobbies are playing video games, running around in circles, and plotting his Future Intergalactic Take-Over.
When not writing books, Rachel enjoys reading, traveling, and knitting (very terribly.)
